Caregiver Weekend Retreat 2024

Connect with Others who Walk in Your Shoes!

Join A-T parents and caregivers to forge new friendships and learn from others as well as leading researchers and clinicians. This is your opportunity to chat with other parents and caregivers, ask questions, and have both formal and informal opportunities to learn more and build connections on your journey of being an A-T caregiver. This kid-free weekend will give you a chance to connect with other caregivers and speak openly about sensitive or delicate subjects related to  A-T. Registration is now closed.

The weekend will include:

  • "Fireside chats" with A-T researchers (to be announced)
  • Meet-and-greet session to make new friends and see old ones
  • Hot-off-the-presses copies of the newly-revised Caring for People with A-T guide with the opportunity to ask questions about it
  • A-T clinicians discussing clinical management and answering general questions
  • Discussions about clinical studies and trials
  • An A-T research and drug development update with Brad Margus (volunteer A-TCP founder and A-T dad)
  • Other sessions including life hacks for adaptive equipment, home adaptations and more; breakout sessions for school, adult issues, and those with newly diagnosed children; living life to the fullest; and more
  • Free time to enjoy activities with other caregivers or rest
  • Optional late evening pub gatherings with the group
  • Meals and materials included

Hotel

All scheduled events will be held at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center, at 1501 Gaylord Trail, Grapevine, TX 76051. The group room rate is $259 (excluding taxes). After you register, please reach out to Sara at sara@atcp.org if you would like to book a room in our block.

Rooms may be limited at the group rate, so we encourage you to make your reservation as soon as possible.

Parking

The hotel provides self-parking at a rate of $25 per day (plus applicable taxes).

Airport Information

The closest airport is Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) which is 9 minutes away. Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL) is 27 minutes away.  Taxis and ride shares are available between the airports and the hotel.
