Alana is hard at work on her famous cookies!
Last January, Judy, an A-T CureTeam member from Florida, participated in the Dopey Challenge (running all four races – 5K, 10K, half and full marathon!) at runDisney’s annual Marathon Weekend in Florida. Like many other CureTeam members who start out not knowing anyone with A-T, after attending the CureTeam pasta party and meeting the A-T community, Judy and her family became friends, supporters and allies in our fight against A-T.
This year, a new chapter unfolds as Judy’s daughter, Alana, takes up the mantle, ready to embody the spirit of the A-T CureTeam. Come November, she will proudly represent the CureTeam in runDisney’s Wine & Dine 10K race. In addition to training for her race and attending middle school, Alana has been hard at work fundraising for the A-T Children’s Project. She is known in her town for her famous cookies . When thinking about how to entice people to donate, she had the great idea to offer a dozen of her irresistible cookies to anyone who donated over $25. Little did she know how much baking this would lead to! In fact, many people asked whether they were entitled to multiple batches for each $25 donation 🙂 . Alana ended up baking and delivering over 12 dozen cookies to donors. She raised $455 through her efforts, leaving her fundraising goal of $200 in the sugary dust.
